Ed Henry: Clinton ‘Feeling the Bern,’ ‘Checkmated’ by Sanders on Fundraising

‘Sanders raised $26 million by holding just five fund raisers, $2 million less than Hillary’s $28 million’

BAIER: “Hillary Clinton is going after House Republicans investigating her e-mail issues. This comes as the candidate is still raking in campaign donations, but not enough to escape an unexpectedly fierce challenge from her left. Chief White House correspondent Ed Henry has that story tonight.”
[clip starts]
HENRY (voice-over): “Hillary Clinton is feeling ‘The Bern’. Checkmated by Democratic Senator socialist Bernie Sanders, on fundraising. From July to September Clinton raised a record $28 million. Yet, Sanders nearly matched that with $26 million. Despite holding just five fundraisers, compared to Clinton’s 58. So Clinton is burning more cash on overhead. Repeat of 2008 when her supposed money advantage over then Senator Barack Obama, evaporated. Sanders is shattering records, too. Reaching at least one million online contributions, months ahead, of when Obama did. And now one of the president’s top advisers, Valerie Jarrett is raising more doubts about Clinton’s e-mail.
MITCHELL: “Weren’t there guidelines from the White House to all cabinet secretaries —“ [crosstalk]
JARRETT: “Well, yes there were —“
MITCHELL: “ — to use government e-mail?”
JARRETT: “— yeah, absolutely. We feel — obviously, we want to make sure we preserve all government records, and so there was guidance given that government business should be done on government e-mails and that if you did use a private e-mail it should be turned over. That’s what she’s doing.”
HENRY (voice-over): “Clinton did turn over work-related e-mail. [indecipherable]State Department official tells FOX, the grand total of e-mails with classified information has now reached 403.”
CLINTON: “There is no classified material.”
HENRY (voice-over): “Clinton insists they were not marked classified and downplays the risks to her server. Yet, FBI Director James Comey confirms that his investigation is probing the server’s security. After it was revealed Russia linked hackers attempted to break into Clinton’s server by trying to get her to click on links to fake parking tickets. Today the Clinton campaign release the video trying to keep the focus, instead on comments by House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, linking G.O.P. Benghazi probe with Clinton slide in the polls.”
FALLON: “It’s nothing more than a taxpayer-funded Republican hit job, using the deaths of four Americans as a front.”
[clip ends]
HENRY: “Yet some top Democrats are still raising major concerns. Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper said today, he’s not sure if the law was broken. But, added,  if it was that would be a ‘death knell’ for Clinton. Brett.”
BAIER: “Ed, thank you.”
