Ben Rhodes: The Democratic Party Needs to Make Gun Control a ‘Top Priority Issue for Voters’

‘Republican politicians are afraid of the intensity in their Primary electorate’

RHODES: "But what I do think needs to change is the mentality from the president on down that this is something we tend to talk about after a tragedy or right before an election. It’s not like ingrained in the agenda that is run on in the same way that health care is in the Democratic Party or increasingly climate change is. I think increasingly, you know, we have to make this a top priority issue for voters. That’s the only way politicians then feel like they’re going to be held accountable to actually follow through on the promises that they make.”
