Faith and Religious Leaders Back Trump: ‘I’m Sold on Him’
ROBERTS: “Donald Trump unveiling his tax plan and escalating his war words with Senator Marco Rubio. ABC’s Tom Llamas is following the campaign and joins us this morning. Good morning, Tom.”
LLAMAS: “Robin, good morning to you. Donald Trump says Wall Street big wigs are going hate parts of this plan. But when you take a close look, everyone gets a break somehow.”

TRUMP: “The economy is what I do well.”
LLAMAS (voice-over): “And Donald Trump believes he can recharge the economy by cutting taxes and making sure more than half of taxpayers don't pay income tax. Trump's new tax program calling for people making up to $25,000 or couples making up to $50,000 to pay no income tax at all and across the board corporate tax rate of 15 percent and eliminating deductions and loopholes available to the very rich.”
TRUMP: “In other words, it's going to cost me a fortune.”
LLAMAS (voice-over): “But anti-tax conservatives like the plan because everyone gets a tax cut, even billionaires because they'll pay a lower rate.”
TRUMP: “Even though they won't be getting certain deductions which aren't fair for them to be getting that they'll end up doing better.”
LLAMAS (voice-over): “Later Trump switching from finances to faith meeting with pastors and rabbis from around the country, some later pouring out of Trump Tower wearing campaign caps after meeting and praying with the Republican front-runner. Trump even bringing some to his flock.”
UNKNOWN MALE: “He wasn't trying to pander to us in order to gain our support. He was speaking to us as one of us.”
UNKNOWN MALE 1: “He held the Bible up. I believe that he's a Christian and I'm sold on him.”
LLAMAS (voice-over): “Still not sold on the Trump campaign, Senator Marco Rubio describing it this way in a radio interview.”
RUBIO (voice-over): “I'm not interested in the back and forth to be a member or a part of his freak show.”
LLAMAS (voice-over): “I asked Trump about this. Senator Rubio described your campaign as a freak show. You take a lot of pride in your campaign.”
TRUMP: “Well, senator -- Look, look, Senator Rubio is a lightweight. We understand that. He wouldn’t be able to do this, he wouldn't know a trade deal from any other deal.”
