Hemmer: ‘Boehner Didn’t Need Just a Kleenex, He Needed a Box’ Yesterday

‘He’s started working on the Pope’s visit in 1994’

"Truly remarkable. You know, Martha, we have been watching him so closely yesterday because he is Roman Catholic, one of 12 brothers and sisters from Southwestern Ohio. He started working on the Pope's visit in 1994. Back then, he was in his second term in the House, and he petitioned then House Speaker Tom Foley to bring Pope John Paul to second address Congress. It took him more than 20 years but he has got it done it. It happened yesterday. And here is the man who is known for crying, and watching him sit behind the Holly Father, and then lead him to the Speaker's balcony -- John Boehner did not need just a Kleenex, he needed a box of Kleenex yesterday. And now we have this news and you have to imagine that he knew this decision was coming today, even while the Holly Father spoke yesterday."
