ABC’s Jon Karl: Hillary Clinton ‘Is Suddenly Looking Beatable’

‘It is now clear that Hillary Clinton will have a tough, a much tougher battle for the Democratic nomination than virtually anybody expected’

KARL: “Bernie Sanders is coming on strong. It is now clear that Hillary Clinton will have a tough -- much tougher battle for the Democratic nomination than virtually anybody expected.”

KARL (voice-over): “Hillary Clinton is campaigning hard.”

CLINTON: “With your help, we'll get there, okay?”

KARL (voice-over): “Spending part of her Labor Day weekend in Newton, Iowa.”

CLINTON: “My voice is a little raspy. But don't let it bother you.”

KARL (voice-over): “She’s not just losing her voice. This morning, she's also losing momentum. A new poll in New Hampshire shows Bernie Sanders… with a commanding lead. Forty-one percent with just 32 percent for Clinton.”

SANDERS: “I think the secretary's people are getting very nervous.”

KARL (voice-over): “Sanders is also surging in Iowa. Where he marked the Labor Day weekend by joining union members on the picket line in Cedar Rapids.”

SANDERS: “We’re going to fight together for an economy that works for the middle class and working families of this country, rather than just the people on top.” (Applause)

KARL (voice-over): “Not long ago, Clinton was trouncing Sanders in Iowa by 24 percent. Now her lead in the hawk eye state is down to just 11 points. The Clinton’s suddenly looking beatable, the big question now is, what will Joe Biden do? He’s not even a candidate yet. But in that New Hampshire poll, 20 percent of Democrats are already saying they'd vote for him.”
