CNN Medical Guest: Biden Had Benign, Potentially Precancerous Lesion Removed

‘Because there is a potential for that to develop into something that is cancerous, the polyp was removed’

EXCERPT:

PERNELL: “So, John, this is the power of prevention if you are in a certain age range. So, according to the United States preventive services task force, beginning age 45, you should undergo screening for colon cancer. Colonoscopy is the gold standard screening. So, the president had a colonoscopy following prevention guidelines and -- and there was a finding. And that finding was a tubular adenoma. Those who are older than 50 years are more likely to have polyps. The polyp was benign. But because there is a potential for that to develop into something that is cancerous, the polyp was removed.”
