CBS New York: ‘Thousands of First Responders Protest’ Vaccine Mandate

‘The clock is ticking for city workers to get that shot’

EXCERPT:

DIAS (voice-over): "Before tomorrow’s major vaccine mandate takes effect, a last ditch effort for some of the city’s finest and bravest. Chopper 2 flying above as they rallied in front of the mayor’s home, Gracie Mansion, to let their voices be heard."
ANSBRO: "This is really an absolutely unnecessary threat to the lives of New Yorkers. There is no crisis. Right now, 8 percent of New York City firefighters, are out with fire-related injuries, and 1/16th of that number is out with Covid."
DIAS (voice-over): "This city says it’s ready to show the door to 3,500 FDNY members if they don’t get the shot. A high-ranking FDNY source tell CBS 2 as many as 20 percent of fire companies could close and their ambulance fleet could be impacted as well. If the mayor doesn’t budge on his mandate, ralliers say it could mean lives will be lost."
ANSBRO: "No other way to do this. We currently have a staffing shortage as it is."
