Wash. Times: Lerner Used Two Secret Private E-mail Accounts for Gov’t Business

‘This may be a government official using a dog as a name for an email account’

RUSH TRANSCRIPT:

CARLSON: "Top of the hour. "The real story." Fox News alert now. New twist in the Lois Lerner scandal. She is another personal email account which she used to conduct some IRS business during the agency's alleged political targeting of conservative groups. An IRS lawyer telling the court, in addition to emails to or from an email account denominated Lois G. Lerner or Lois home, some emails responsive to judicial watch's request may have been sent or received from a personal email account denominated Toby miles. Stephen, who the heck is Toby miles?
DINAN: "That's a really good question. We don't know for sure, but it sounds like it is -- Miles is Lerner's husband's name. Reports are out that Toby is her dog. This may be a government official using a dog as a name for an email account. Lisa Jackson, former EPA administrator used the account Richard Windsor, apparently also, at least one of those names, the name of her dog as well. That's the current belief, that this was essentially her husband's account that she used. We already have one email message out of this, that the irs did turn over to Congress earlier in the investigation from the Toby miles account. We know some of what went on there. The real news here is that, two years after the freedom of information act request was filed the irs is saying, hey, we realize there may be other Lerner emails out there that are responsive to the things we were supposed to have answered a year ago."
CARLSON: "Wait a minute. They're just now remembering that or they were only telling half of the truth earlier and now we have this other email account, a personal email address, by the way, that could have subjected personal information about taxpayers to a whole different server, right?"
DINAN: "Right. You raise all of the right questions. The answer is, we just don't know the extent of her use of this account right now. As I said, we have one inkling of it in some of the documents that have been put out there. We don't know how much she used this account. The only reason we actually know about this one right now is because she actually included her regular IRS account as one of the senders. The two -- Theo line on the message she sent from the Toby miles account. This is like all the other questions we have about personal emails, Lisa Jackson, Hillary Rodham Clinton, who have all used personal accounts for government business. We don't know how much they did with the personal accounts because they're personal accounts. Unless the government claws the messages back, we don't know."
CARLSON: "Is it true Congressman Dave camp sent a letter in April asking for a criminal referral on the emails and they referenced this Toby account?"
DINAN: "Last year Dave camp in the ways and means committee asked the Justice Department to look into her actions all around in relation to the tea party. That's where we got the one glimpse of the email. What's interesting here is that the irs, two months after that, had testified to the court in the same case that we're talking about now, they had only referenced a single personal email address. Now, a year later and a year and two months after -- or a year and four months after the ways and means committee exposed the email address the irs is suddenly saying, oh, wait, we may have to go back and do searches because we've just now decided that that third email account, the second private email account, may apply here. That's why this is also stunning. You played the clip earlier from Judicial Watch."
