MSNBC: Biden to Sign an Executive Order Requiring the Vaccine for All Federal Workers and Contractors

MEMOLI: "I mentioned when we spoke a little bit ago we would get more details through the day from the White House about what the president is going to be laying out today as part of that six prong plan for fighting Covid-19. One of those has to do with the issue of mandates. This is not something that the White House, we've talked about this before, politically or legally feels they can order in terms of the entire country on ordinary Americans. But what the president believes he does have formal legal ground to order the vaccination of all federal workers. More than 2 million who are part of the federal work force. You remember in July, the president ordered them to impose either a vaccine requirement or to institute regular testing, that individuals would have to regular test to their agencies that they were tested and tested negative. What the president is intending to do today we're now reporting, is to essentially take the last option out of the equation. You have to be vaccinated in order to show up at work. So as we go through the day, two of the biggest pieces of what the president is going to be unveiling today, this executive order on the federal work force in terms of vaccinations and as we've talked about before the effort to keep schools safe as they now reopen across the country, and that has to do with pushing states to use federal money to test the students, the teachers and all those who'll be in the schools, Steph."
