Marc Siegel: I’m Not a Big Mandate Fan, But Schools Need To Be Open

‘Schools need to be open ... because of the tremendous amount of damage we’ve seen with schools being closed’

EXCERPT:

SIEGEL: “I think the reason to all the confusion is because we’re mixing up masks with vaccines. I think vaccines are much more effective and I think we should start by making sure all teachers and staff are vaccinated, however we do that. I think teens ages 12-17, almost all should be vaccinated. And I think masks — you know, I think masks, distancing and ventilation are what's called mitigating strategies. I think they add something and I think they should be in consideration definitely, but keep in mind the Delta variant, again, spreads more easily, so we have to see what happens. Schools need to be open, Dana, because of the tremendous amount of damage we’ve seen with schools being closed.”
