Jon Lemire Claims the Biden Admin. Has Consistently Supported Schools Opening

LEMIRE: “But on schools, as a final point, the Biden administration is committed to getting them open. We’ve heard that — they’ve not changed the rhetoric from day one, that this fall they expect schools to be open. They want federal money to go out to be able to do this. They are asking parents and teachers and communities and mayors and governors to do things to safeguard it, which includes masks and they expect teachers to be there. And I think that is something that is becoming a real issue here, is we've seen some teachers unions balk at requiring their teachers to be vaccinated, while others, like certainly in New York City, largest in the country, Mayor De Blasio is urging teachers people to do so and says it will be needed. So there's a lot to go into play here. But certainly A.B. is right, that the political stakes are huge. And fair or not, the Republicans are going to try to blame the Biden administration. I think that we'll have the White House armed with facts try to rebut that."
