Richard Haass: ‘This Administration Needs a Trade Policy for Economic and Strategic Reasons’

‘This administration, neither one had a trade policy’

EXCERPT:

HAASS: “Why don't we join Asian trade agreements. The past administration and this administration, neither one had a trade policy. Why don't we join the Asian trade agreements that's where the most of the world's wealthiest. And what we can do is say you want to export into this area here is the requirements you have to meet on climate. You can't use coal to produce your goods if you want to have access to this trade bloc. But this administration needs a trade policy for economic, for strategic reasons and for climate reasons and it simply is opting out.”
