Ed Henry on Hillary: ‘FBI Doesn’t Just Play Around’ with Investigations

‘Clinton camp has been aggressively trying to spin this by saying, “Look, Hillary Clinton is not the target of this investigation”’

MACCALLUM: “Hillary Clinton is not going to be on the stage tonight but you can expect that she will be a frequent target as Republicans focus on getting Democrats out of the White House. She has a rapid response team ready to counter attacks in tonight's debate. Chief White House Correspondent Ed Henry is covering the Clinton campaign. So, Mrs. Clinton already, on defense as the FBI investigates the handling of her e-mails. Ed, how serious is this becoming and does it looks like this could turning to potential criminal investigation perhaps?”
HENRY: “Good morning, Martha. It was interesting, New York Post is reporting this morning, quoting anonymous sources that this already is a criminal investigation by the FBI that is not been officially confirmed by the FBI, or certainly by the Clinton camp. Instead of Clinton camp has been aggressively trying to spin this and saying, ‘look Hillary Clinton is not target of this investigation. They’re just looking at the server – the security of her email server. Let’s not forget, this is Hillary Clinton's e-mail server. And she was the one who set it up. Even if it technically is not a criminal investigation today, the FBI doesn't just play around. A lot of people find that out when they have the FBI looking around, FBI agents trying to get information. One would expect that they're going to try to get their hands on that server at some point, look, if you're -- a political campaign, and basically part of your defense is, she is not under criminal investigation, that suggests at very least you're dealing with some serious political fallout at the least. Criminal investigation could come down the road. Nobody knows for sure.”
