More Than 1,000 Migrants Crammed into Makeshift Camp in Mexico While Awaiting Asylum

‘Right behind me over a thousand migrants have been living here for three months’

EXCERPT:

VENTURA: "Just arrived in Tijuana, Mexico to report on a current migrant camp that has been forming here for the past three months. Right behind me, over a thousand migrants have been living here for three months from Central America. You can see right behind me, you have a migrant camp line forming right now. But we wanted to show you guys the tents and the conditions that these migrants have been in here for the past three months. We've spoken to some women who say that they've been getting threats of kidnapping, and it's a really dangerous location here in Tijuana. Now, we wanted to actually show you, too, what the conditions are like inside one of these camps, inside one of these tents. We're going to show you that right now. We're going to show you what's — these migrants have been living through these past three months inside these tents. As you can see, overcrowding, and this — there's just so many tents, and you can see the supplies that the migrants here have been using for the past three months. This family here that we've been speaking to are from Honduras and are seeking asylum inside the United States, but have not heard an answer back.”
