Va. Gov. Northam on Banning Death Penalty: ‘We Executed More People than Any Other State’

‘And this is our time to right that wrong’

NORTHAM: "You know, when one looks at the history of close to 1,400 individuals have been executed. The great majority of those individuals were African-American. And so that number is disproportionate. Virginia is proud of a lot of things but one thing we shouldn’t be proud of is we executed more people than any other state. And this is our time to right that wrong."
