Donald Trump: ‘John McCain Picked a Fight with Me’

‘He said that 15,000 people were crazies; and they weren’t crazies, they were great Americans’

HALPERIN: "Who's got the second best chance to winning nomination after you?"

TRUMP: "I'd say Bush or Walker probably at this moment. But that could change."

HALPERIN: "Do you think your campaign could be hurt as past candidates have been by things you say that people jump on -- could that hurt you?"

TRUMP: "I don't know what -- you know, what? I don't know. All I can do is be me. I have to be me because if I am not me, I am being -- I'm not being true. I'm a very honest person and I have to be who I am. And people like what I say. Like today I got called because I used the word damn. And I called them on. I said it's enough. You know, it's just one of those things. But you have to be -- you have to be yourself."

HALPERIN: "But you are picking the fights with people like John McCain who are pretty powerful --"

TRUMP: "I am not picking fights. No, no, no. John McCain picked a fight with me. He said that 15,000 people were crazies. And they weren’t crazies, they were great Americans."
