GOP Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price Says Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s Order Is ‘Premature’

‘We’re trending in the right direction, but we’re definitely not out of the woods yet’

EXCERPT:

HARLOW: "It's nice to have you. Good morning, Mayor."
PRICE: "It's nice to be with you Poppy and Jim. Thank you."
HARLOW: "Of course. Well, the chief medical officer in your state, in Texas, told state lawmakers that he did not speak with Governor Abbott directly about this really significant decision. I wonder if you think the decision by Governor Abbott makes Texans less safe."
PRICE: "Yeah, we’re trending in the right direction, but we’re definitely not out of the woods yet, and I think it’s a bit premature. I’ve stated that publicly. Spring break is coming up, Big St. Paddy’s day celebrations. And I would have loved to see this, you want to announce it now but make it effective may if numbers begin to trend down. But that said we have to encourage our personal responsibility of our residents."
