‘Morning Joe’ Freaks out over Texas Dropping Covid Restrictions: ‘Reckless and Irresponsible’

‘I don’t even know how to describe them’

EXCERPT:

SCARBOROUGH: “And again, you look at CPAC and the people that got the biggest cheers there — not the people that are going to win elections, mind you, but the people who got the biggest cheers there were the people most reckless and irresponsible, Ron DeSantis, he's used his stupidity on addressing Covid as actually his calling card for running for president in 2024. He’s ahead in a lot of those straw polls in CPAC. Kristi Noem, who was stupid enough, thought she was being cool on the 4th of July to say, 'We’re having this big event, and no, you don’t have to wear masks; and no, there’s not going to be social distancing.' This was back in July, of course, when we were obviously — like now — we’re the middle of it. And I think Herman Cain had just passed away or had just gotten it, but it was an especially reckless time for her to be that cavalier about it. And of course, rates in her state have been spiking, but she just doesn’t care. She doesn’t care at all because it’s all, at the end of the day, about owning the libs. And to these, I just — I don’t even know how to describe them. To these demagogues, actually owning the libs now means owning science, owning medicine, owning reason, owning rationality. It is a dead-end street for Donald Trump’s Republican Party. It’s something that 'The Wall Street Journal' editorial page wrote about yesterday, but it's certainly not a memo that Greg Abbott got.”
