Huckabee on Iran Deal: ‘This Is a Colossal Failure’

‘He [Netanyahu] is scratching his head and wondering what he did to deserve this kind of enmity’

RUSH TRANSCRIPT:
CARLSON: “Joining me now, former Arkansas governor and 2016 presidential candidate Mike Huckabee. Great to have you, governor. If you were president, what would you do?"
HUCKABEE: "I wouldn't have gotten into this deal. This is like driving into the dealership with a brand-new Lexus and driving off with a yugo. I have been reading through the 159 pages of the deal this morning. Gretchen, and it is stunning. We've essentially written Iran a check for $120 billion so that they can go out and make even more money. We've taken all of the restrictions off of the Iranians, who are right now holding Americans prisoner. They have murdered Americans. They've kidnapped Americans. They've sponsored terrorism around the world. And this is the equivalent of, if a kid in your neighborhood is shooting out your windows with a .22, you turn around and give him a shotgun and make it easier for him. I have no idea what the president is thinking in this. It has to be one of the most outrageous, irrational decisions that a U.S. President has made in relationship to foreign policy."
CARLSON: “Pretty strong words, governor. You have a tight relationship with Israel. You have travelled there many times. What do you think Netanyahu is thinking right now other than calling it a horrific mistake."
HUCKABEE: "He's scratching his head and wondering what he did to deserve this kind of enmity. This is the irony here. It's not just Israel. We're a talking the Saudis, emirates, Kuwait. All of the Middle Eastern nations are as appalled at least privately as Netanyahu is. They know Iran is a bad actor. You don't reward bad behavior hoping it results in better behavior. What this deal essentially does is to give an enormous reward -- I'll tell you how this deal works. It works under two conditions, that you trust perform and that you trust the Iranians. Gretchen, let me be blunt. I trust neither President Obama nor the Iranians. For that reason alone, even apart from language, this is a colossal failure. All we can do is hope that the members of Congress are acting in the best interest of safety, security, not just of the middle East but the entire world."
