Lawrence Jones: People Are Beginning To See the Teachers’ Unions For Who They Are

‘This battle, it needs to happen’

EXCERPT:

JONES: “People are beginning to see the teachers union for who they are. They have said it’s about the kids for all these years, but when push comes to shove, when everybody else is reopening, you’ll see they made all these demands, they want the vaccine. And some counties, they are getting the vaccines and they still decided they won't go back to school. They say they wanted them to redo the filters in the schools? This is beside the point though, guys. Without all of this, the schools are safer. The schools are safer, but they still said, 'Let’s change the air filters. Let’s get you the PPE that you need. Let’s get you the sanitation that you need.' And still after all that, they didn’t want to go back to school. Because guess what? It was never about the safety. It was about them, their pocketbooks, and it wasn’t about the kids. And it’s high time for us supporting these teachers unions, all unions to be frank, because they don’t ever look out for the people they’re supposed to look out for. And it’s being highlighted and I think there will be change because of what we’ve seen in Chicago."
