Christie: ‘I’m Not Supporting Somebody Who Won’t Say Whether They’re Running’

Chris Christie says the issue of whether he would support a New York gubernatorial bid by Rob Astorino never came up in their meeting

Christie: In meeting, Astorino "didn't seek support" (Democrat and Chronicle)

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie on Monday said he and Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino discussed what it's like to run for statewide office while caring for young children, but the issue of whether Christie would support a New York gubernatorial bid by Astorino never came up.

Gannett's Albany Bureau reported last month that Christie, Astorino and their wives huddled in private at the Republican Governors Association annual conference in Arizona. Christie serves as head of the association, which serves to elect Republican governors across the country.

On Monday, Christie said Astorino never said he was running for governor, nor did he seek support from Christie, a high-profile Republican regarded as a top presidential contender in 2016.
