Christie: ‘Nobody in the Real World Asks Me’ About Trump

‘What we should be talking about are all the significant problems we face in this country’

CHRISTIE: “Listen, we’ve talked about this over and over again. What we should be talking about are all the significant problems we have in this country like entitlement reform which we’ve talked about. We should be talking about education reform and not continue to be talking about all this stuff. Enough, we’ve answered the questions.”

HENRY: “But did he send the wrong signal or not? Because you said you are going to be all about straight talk.”

CHRISTIE: “This will be the 50th time I’ve answered now. It’s inappropriate, the comments were inappropriate. Listen, Donald is a friend; I’ve known him for 13 years. I like him personally, but his comments were inappropriate. That’s the 50th time I’ve said it and it’s going to be the last time I say it. Because you know, seriously, when I’m out there talking to folks nobody in the real world asks me about this. Nobody. But every time I get on a media shows all anybody wants to talk about is Donald Trump… If you want to talk about the things we need to do to address the immigration system -- but that’s not what I get asked. What I get asked about is Donald Trump and his comments. His comments have nothing to do with -- nothing to do with immigration and how we deal with the immigration system.”
