Benjy Sarlin: Christie Created ‘Odd’ Narrative that He Was the Center of Bridge-Gate

‘What everyone wanted was investigations and to get to the bottom of it’

MSNBC Reporter Benjy Sarlin: Christie Created "Odd" Narrative That He Was The Center Of Bridgegate (RealClearPolitics)

MSNBC HOST: I want to bring in Benji here. He's talking about critics and media saying that they owe him, Steve Kornacki, owes him an apology for where we are now, for pre-judging, having accused him. Is he picking up on something here when you say you know what, you guys all owe me that apology or I wouldn't be where I am now especially when it comes to my popularity?

BENJY SARLIN, MSNBC: This odd standard that he's created out of nowhere that everyone's assumption and claim right out of the gate of this was, oh, Chris Christie himself personally pointed his finger and ordered this. What everyone wanted was investigations and to get to the bottom of it. No one was saying that this wasn't a big deal including Chris Christie by the way. If all that happened was that senior staff and senior appointee as conspired to create a massive traffic jam, I'd say that's a pretty big deal on its own. Why the story got so much coverage. So it's a little odd just to create this new standard that, well, as long as it falls short of this point where I've identified, then i'm exonerated. Where is my apology.
