Brett McGurk: ‘There’s No Reason’ to Pull Troops out of Afghanistan Other than to Tie the Hands and Restrain the Options for Biden

‘We cannot tell our commanders and troops to do the same mission with half the force’

EXCERPT:

MCGURK: “You know, Chris Miller, the acting Secretary of Defense said all the missions remain the same, the policy remains the same, we’re just cutting our force in half. Well, that’s really incoherent. We cannot tell our commanders and our troops to do the same mission with half the force. That necessarily means that they’re at greater risk. So, there’s no reason for this. And the only reason I can think of is, again, to tie the hands and restrain the options of the incoming Biden administration.”
