Bernie Sanders Says GOP Knows Trump Has Lost: ‘The Average Republican Senator Is Not an Idiot’

SANDERS: “Look. People lose close election. Hillary Clinton lost a close election. Other people have lost close elections. In America you say I fought as hard as I could and I want to thank our supporters and I congratulate the winner and let’s go forward with the transition we all love our country and we want the best for America. What he is doing is delegitimatizing our electoral process and American democracy. He is saying to supporters we didn’t lose the election. Maybe the other guy got 5 million more votes than me but we didn’t lose it and it’s fraud and millions will believe that. That is outrage. You have to the guts to sometimes say I put up a fight, I lost, congratulations to the winner and move on. I worked so hard. The Progressive community worked so hard in this election because what we knew this election was about it’s not just climate change or criminal justice reform with the economy. It is whether or not we continue to have a president in Donald Trump who is pathological liar who is really trying to move this country beyond the rule of law. And that is something that we cannot accept and thank good we were able to defeat him.”
