Pelosi: If We’re Silent on China ‘We Lose All Moral Authority to Speak About Human Rights Any Place in the World’

‘We must have engagement but we must also recognize when there are crimes against humanity’

EXCERPT:

PELOSI: “We have had a number of successes on the floor, House and Senate, in a bipartisan way speaking out against what is happening in China and Hong Kong and Tibet and Uyghur territories and just across the country . I have said it over and over, if we refuse to speak out about human rights in China because of commercial interest, then we lose all moral authority to speak about human rights any place in the world. Again, 30 years, at least one hour a day on China, whether it is from a security standpoint, an economic standpoint, or values standpoint. It is a big country. So are we. We must have engagement. But we must also recognize when there are acts of violence and almost crimes against humanity, we must speak out against them."
