The View’s Hostin: Without Two Centuries of Free Labor, the U.S. Economy As We Know It Would Not Exist

‘America’s financial existence was predicated about, you know, on the forced, unpaid labor of my ancestors, and I would like that to be recognized by this country’

EXCERPT:

HOSTIN: “And really, downplaying the historical legacy of slavery is really what would be abusive to children of color like my own, because without two centuries of free labor, the United States economy as we know it would not exist. America’s financial existence was predicated about — you know, on the forced, unpaid labor of my ancestors. And I would like that to be recognized by this country. I would like my children to learn about the black excellence of their ancestors and about their contributions. And so, you know, I think the fact that Joe Biden recognizes that and recognized it during the town hall, was remarkable and I appreciated it."
