AP’s Lemire: Last Night’s RNC Attendees ‘Said They Were Not Tested’ for COVID Before They Arrived

‘Some wearing masks, not many’

EXCERPT:

LEMIRE: “To pick up your point now about the sense of sort of unreality that has permeated this convention, particularly on the pandemic, you heard the Vice President defend the administration’s handling of that. But even the setting itself, we should underscore this, that was a live audience, there were several hundred people there. Some of them were wearing masks, not many. They were not particularly socially distanced. And reporters who were there last night in Baltimore talked to people in the crowd and many of them said they were not tested for the Coronavirus before they arrived. And you saw video earlier, the Vice President and the President sort of worked the rope line a little bit after the speech. Vice President Pence was even seen giving out handshakes and fist bumps, potentially being exposed to someone who was not tested for the virus.”
