Obama: Trade Deal Will Advance Climate Change Agenda Abroad – ‘One of My Highest Priorities’ (CNS News)

(CNSNews.com) – During an interview with Marketplace on the White-House approved Trans-Pacific Partnership trade bill (TPP), President Barack Obama said fast-track approval of the legislation would help advance his climate change agenda, which he said is one of his “highest priorities.”

“If we want to solve something like climate change, which is one of my highest priorities, then I've got to be able to get into places like Malaysia, and say to them, this is in your interest,” Obama told Kai Ryssdal, host of American Public Media’s Marketplace. “What leverage do I have to get them to stop deforestation?
