NMAAHC Targeting Barbie Doll for Race Argument Is Plain Wrong

‘They are describing that white women are a threat because they look like the dolls they played with as children’

EXCERPT:

DATIG: "The National Museum of African American History and Culture has described as of late what whiteness is supposed to mean and how that is somehow privileged. And in that description, they have described white women aesthetically to be blonde, thin, like Barbie. Now they are targeting the dolls our children play with, which by the way come in a variety of skin tones. They're describing that white women are a threat because they look like the dolls they played with as children, especially the women who are white with white skin and blond hair and probably blue-eyed — they didn't say blue-eyed, but you know, that part is actually missing. But I'm sure it's supposed to be there somewhere. But I personally feel like, you know, you're discriminating against me and you're discriminating against children who like to play with dolls.”
