Mazie Hirono: Sen. Tim Scott’s Police Reform Bill ‘Just Nibbles Around the Edges’

HIRONO: “As far as I’m concerned, with everything going on with police brutality and the systemic racism in our country, we need to do more with police reform than nibble around the edges. And the bill that the Senate Republicans want to push forward just nibbles around the edges and that does not address the major concerns that so many people in our country are raising, regarding police reform. So I’m not — I’m not taken with the Senate version, but, you know, we shall see. I — so far I don’t see any signs from Mitch McConnell that he’s willing to make the bill a lot stronger or better still bring forward the bill that the House is likely to pass, which is very much why Kamala Harris and Cory Booker have been pushing for in the Senate and which I totally support.”
