MSNBC’s Murphy: The Idea that the Republican Party Has To Be Afraid of Vote by Mail Is Absolutely Ridiculous

‘We got to be afraid of Donald Trump’s political fortunes which may drag the Senate down’

EXCERPT:

MURPHY: “This was, for 30 years, a thing seen as good by the Republicans. The President doesn’t like it because he doesn’t read the briefing books and he doesn’t understand that it’s not universal vote. He thinks that — he has some warped view in his mind the Democrats pull up at Skid Row and they give every hobo nine letters to mail. That’s not the way it works. It really doesn't tilt the system. In a pandemic, you've got to let people vote. The idea that the Republican Party has to be afraid of vote by mail is absolutely ridiculous. We got to be afraid of Donald Trump’s political fortunes which may drag the Senate down. Let me say, the reality Trump creates in his mind is the reality that he operates on. So he’s going to scream and howl and do a lot of things. But secretary of states control this, as he’s going to learn in Michigan, where they’re going ahead mailing not ballots to people, but an application to get an absentee ballot, which is very normal, very legal, and there's not a lot he can do about it. And smart Republicans know it’s really not a problem."
