Marc Thiessen: Joe Biden ‘Lied to Our Faces’ in Morning Joe Interview
BIDEN: "This never, ever happened. I don’t know what is motivating her. I don’t know what's behind any of it, but it is irrelevant. It never happened. It's never happened. Period. I am not going to start questioning her motive, I’m not going to get into that. I’m not going to go after Tara Reade for saying these things. It’s simple. What are the facts? To any of the things she said, do they add up?"
SMITH: "That was Joe Biden finally breaking his silence this morning in a brand-new interview denying an allegation of sexual assault by former Senate staffer Tara Reid that she says happen back in the early 1990s. This after pressure from Democrats and some women’s groups to directly address the issue had been overshadowing his campaign. But some commentators are pointing out that Biden and all the Democrats defending him were quick to give credence to the allegations against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh in 2018. Marc Thiessen is writing about that in a 'Washington Post' op-ed saying this in the headline: 'Biden Gave Christine Blasey Ford the Benefit of the Doubt. Why not Tara Reade?' Marc Thiessen joins us now, former speechwriter for George W. Bush and a Fox News contributor. Marc, good morning and thanks for for being here this morning."
THIESSEN: "Good morning, Sandra."
SMITH: "So are Democrats and is Joe Biden after you saw him break his silence this morning, are they giving Tara Reade the same treatment that they asked Christine Blasey Ford receive during the Kavanaugh allegation?"
THIESSEN: "Oh, not even close. And look, I watched that interview with Joe Biden this morning, he lied. He lied to our faces. He said that all he said with Christine Blasey Ford was that her case should be investigated. That’s not what he said. He said he believed her.”
