Barrasso: Schumer and Pelosi Were Saying ‘Drop Dead’ to Small Business by Delaying PPP Funding

‘They should never have been playing politics’

EXCERPT:

BARRASSO: "Well, it's always a concern, Maria. This was Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi saying 'Drop dead' to small businesses and the people that work for them. This is a program that ran out of money eight days ago. And over that time, more people have lost their jobs, more small businesses have closed. And why did they do this? They were playing politics for a larger social agenda. There is absolutely no reason to do this. This is vital money for Americans who are looking to that paycheck, week after week, and the small business is involved. The reason we know this, Maria, is that after they finally passed this, Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi had press conferences talking about needing to spend more money, and they were on social agenda items. Chuck listed his items. Number one, he said, is election reform. Number two, he said, is housing. Number three is the post office, Nancy Pelosi says she wants to reform OSHA and bail out pensions. We need to focus on the American workers. This was part of the CARES Act that had run out of money 8 days ago. They should never have been playing politics and delaying this till this point today."
