Amber Ruffin: Trump Couldn’t Say ‘Chinese Virus’ in Phone Call with Xi Jin Ping Because ‘Racists Are Cowards’

‘Now, did he call it a Chinese virus then?’

RUFFIN: "And then Trump called the coronavirus the Chinese virus, and I was like, 'What?! A racist!' Calling it Chinese doesn't absolve you of responsibility for it. That'd be like me blaming a fart on Seth. We're not in the same room right now, so I have to accept I have a hand in it. Then Trump had a phone call with Chinese leader Xi Jinping. Now, did he call it a Chinese virus then? Of course not. Because he was talking directly to a Chinese person and all racists are cowards. Then, a member of the White House coronavorius task force, Dr. Anthony Fauci, explained that he can't stop Trump from telling lies at press conferences because 'I can't jump in front of the microphone and push him down.' And I was like, 'What?! If you're going to push anyone down, it should be Donald Trump.' It'd be easy. Look at how he stands. He leans so far over, he's already half-down. What kind of doctor are you? You see a man saying things in public that are harming people, and you do nothing? Look, if I get on national TV and tell everyone to lick their doorknobs, freakin' tackle me."
