MSNBC: Harvey Weinstein Sentenced to 23 Years in Prison for Rape and Sexual Assault

‘20 years in prison on one charge and three years in prison on the others for a total of 23 out of the possible 29 years in prison for Harvey Weinstein’

EXCERPT:

ALLEN: “Well, it’s a pretty significant sentence, Craig. The sentence is 20 years in prison, 20 years in prison on one charge and three years in prison on the others for a total of 23 out of the possible 29 years in prison for Harvey Weinstein in the sentencing hearing that’s going on right now. The judge also registered him as a sex offender. And in passing down the sentence, the judge said that ‘Even though this is the first conviction, it is not your first offense.’ Which is important because the prosecutors wanted the maximum sentence, and in arguing for that they put forward a long list of other allegations, as many as 30 or more women who had accused Harvey Weinstein of sexual misconduct dating back to the 1970s. There was a long list of other allegations against him.”
