Baltimore Sun Reporter: Violence Was ‘Boiling Point’ After 1968 Riots Went Unremedied

‘The problems that boiled up last night and ended in devastation, didn’t happen last month; it’s been simmering in the community years and years’

RUSH TRANSCRIPT:
DIAZ-BALART: "You know, it's so difficult to think be how do you start? How do you create a concerted effort to turn the page here? There are still calls for, you know, cleanup efforts to begin at 10:00 and faith leaders say they're pledging for groups to work together to bring peace. But how do you start that?"
PUENTE: "Well, that's a big question. You know, talking to some long-time community members last night they said the city has never recovered from the 1968 riots that caused similar devastation. I think this will be a long process and not going to happen overnight. The problems that boiled up last night and ended in devastation, didn't happen last month. It's been simmering in the community years and years. You see what happened when it reached a boiling point."
