OCASIO-CORTEZ: “In that transition between your general, between the general election and actually getting sworn in, you’re not allowed to be paid but also like you’re supposed to kind of get a second apartment. And the right wing was like making fun of me for not being able to afford a second home, like I don’t know why that was embarrassing, but I mean it’s not or it was supposed to be, but whatever. And and so I spent the first few months in office sleeping sleeping on an air mattress and so I’d sleep on an air mattress and then I and then I’d go walk to work and it was a really bizarre experience because I’d go into work and hear people make arguments as to why we can’t make pharmaceuticals more affordable.”
