Reverend Attempts Explaining Why Inviting Sharpton to Baltimore Is a Good Idea

WEST: “Well, I am expecting him [Al Sharpton] sometime this week to reach out to me. I had an interview with him today ... and the reason I chose to reach out to him is because he has no connections with the mayor here or the commissioner here ... If you are getting something from the mayor, if you are getting something from the commissioner, then, you know, you are not going to go, you are not going to fight the hand that feeds you ... We will get around the table and talk about that [rally from Baltimore to D.C.]. I am looking forward to that and I am excited about that. I pray that that will be peaceful as well."
