LAWRENCE: "So, understand, twice in history before we did have impeachment hearings. But those impeachment hearings did not result in removing the president. The Senate in both cases did not take it up. I tell you right now, I’m not optimistic that this Senate would take on the responsibility of a trial. With that being said, we cannot — I feel strongly that for my legacy, for my time in history, sitting here at this table with an oath of office to this to protect this country, to protect the democracy of the United States of America, I cannot sit silent, that I must move forward with this because this is egregious."
