WARREN: "I spent most of my adult life working on one central question. What’s happening to America’s middle class? Why is it being hollowed out? Why are families who work hard and play by the rules going bankrupt? And a big part of the answer to that question is the cost of health care. When I was studying it, about two out of every three families who filed for bankruptcy in the aftermath of a serious medical problem had health insurance when they got sick or when they were injured. We live in a country right now where the costs of health care just keep going up and up and up."
