Sen. Menendez: Trump’s Committed One of the Most Significant National Security Blunders with Syria Pullout

MENENDEZ: "First of all, we largely had an agreement. That’s what this buffer zone was all about. And it was working well. All of our military tell us it was working well. The President has committed in my view one of the most significant national security blunders in what he’s done here. At the end of the day, the Kurds were in the midst of fighting alongside with us, and more importantly, many times ahead of us, on a counter-ISIS efforts. They have detained and are overseeing over 10,000 ISIS fighters that are in jails. They are now withdrawing from that because they have to defend themselves because President Trump allowed them to be attacked. The only people winning in this regard is Putin, Erdogan, and we also created an enormous challenge to Israel because Iran wants a land bridge that ultimately can attack Israel and the Syria part of this that we were in creates an opening for them to do exactly that. Not to mention that globally we are sending a message, 'Don’t fight with and alongside the United States, because when they’re finished with you they’ll let you die on the battlefield.'"
