Ed Henry: ‘NBA Stars Are Disappointing ... They’re Not Standing Up for Freedom’

‘Not standing up for even America in some cases’

EXCERPT:

HENRY: "It infuriates me because NBA players — I love NBA, my son Patrick is a huge NBA fan. I grew up a baseball fan and I love the NBA because of my son. We go to games together. And yet these NBA stars are disappointing me and I think a lot of people because they are not standing up for freedom. They're not standing up even for America in some cases. Here they are under the guise of freedom of speech and all the rest. They have been claiming in the last two or three years that they have the right to attack President Trump on a whole bunch of issues. Whether it’s Harden or LeBron James or Steve Kerr who you were talking about a moment ago, the coach of the Golden States Warriors. In fact, Steve Kerr and the rest of the Warriors didn’t go to the White House after they won the championship because they said, 'Well, President Trump didn’t really invite us.' At one point Steve Kerr said, 'I don’t want to shake his hand. It’s a respect issue. This guy doesn’t stand up for all these different rights.' So now they have a chance. Okay, that's fine. If you genuinely believe that, that is your principle. You should still be respectful to the president, I believe, whoever the president is. But if you want to stand up on rights, do it, but then be consistent and stand up to communist China. They are not doing it because the NBA makes big money in China. It’s crazy."
