Fox News Panel Clashes on Gun Control After Odessa Shooting: ‘Access to Guns Is a Problem’

‘You won’t deny AR-15s are the weapons of choice for these murders’

EXCERPT:

TARLOV: "Police chiefs from all over the country, including Los Angeles, have submitted a letter to Congress asking for the assault weapons ban which was put in place 1994 from the crime bill to be put into place. I understand there needs to be a discussion about what qualifies as an assault weapon. But that seems like a place that people can go here." [crosstalk]
WEBB: "I have to correct this because this is a problem in this discussion. First of all, FBI statistics more murders are committed with less than three bullets. That’s a fact. If I can, I don’t know how much you know about guns but you can do more damage reloading fast with a 9 millimeter than you can at times depending on the situation." [crosstalk]
TARLOV: "I can read with the best of them and I have --"
WEBB: "No. Let me finish. The profile of a gun and how it looks does not determine the operation of one pull the trigger one shot."
TARLOV: "OK. You won’t deny AR-15s are the weapons of choice for these murders. In Deyton the police officers that responded had said that many more lives would not have been lost if that weapon had not been in the shooter’s hands."
WEBB: "It is the shooter’s fault and we're not addressing the problem with the shooter."
TARLOV: "Access to guns is a problem."
