Chuck Todd Sums Up an Exhausting Week of Trump Chaos: ‘Careening from Crisis to Crisis’

‘We are in uncharted territory as the president prepares to meet world leaders in the midst of the latest crisis of his own making’

EXCERPT:

TODD: “Right now we are waiting for the White House and an apparent announcement responding to those Chinese tariffs. We say apparent because the President tweeted hours ago that he would be announcing something shortly, but that is still not happened. And White House staff is not 100 percent sure something is going to happen. But they did say stay tuned to his Twitter feed. If it feels like the President is playing with fire, that’s frankly because he may be. If it feels like the President is careening from crisis to crisis and creating policy by tweet, that’s because he is. And Ii it feels like the President is acting even more erratic than usual, it’s because he is. If it feels like all of this is because the President is a bit rattled, well, more than a bit by the possibility of a recession, that’s because he is. And that’s the breaking news of this moment as the President prepares for his trip to France for the G-7. Just a reminder, this photo sums up how well the last G-7 meeting went. The deep divisions then between the President and those world leaders who are among America’s most important personal allies, but they had splits on issues like trade, the environment, and foreign policy. And if anything, those divides are deeper today than they were last year.”
