Jerry Brown: I’d Run for President if I Were 10 Years Younger
TODD: "If you were 10 years younger would you be running this year?"
BROWN: "Yes, I would."
TODD: "You would be running for president?"
BROWN: "Well, I can't say I'm running three times, so if I could go back in the time machine and be 66, you know, I might jump in. But that's a counter-factual, so we would only be speculating on that."
TODD: "(Laughs) Governor Jerry Brown, the both oldest and younger governor of California. Thanks for coming on Meet the Press, sir."
BROWN: "Thank you."
TODD: "All right. Let's get some quick reaction from the panel. Jane Harman, you should [indecipherable] good California. How about the honesty?"
HARMAN: "Go Jerry."
TODD: "Absolutely. Yes."
HARMAN: "I loved it."
TODD: "Shouldn't he run anyway?"
HARMAN: "Um --"
TODD: "Um? (Laughter)"
HARMAN: "Um, that's his call. You know, hey, what's old, doesn't seem old to me anymore, so -- (Laughter) But I remember him as he a young governor. I think he's better now. This is Jerry Brown reaching the gold standard."
