Texas Police Officer Fatally Shoots Woman While Firing at Unleashed Dog

‘It appears that the woman was accidentally shot by an officer aiming at an aggressive dog’

EXCERPT:

GAVINO: "Karen, good morning. It appears that the woman was accidentally shot by an officer aiming at an aggressive dog. Now, according to Arlington police, it happened last night just before 5:30. They had responded to a welfare check for 30-year-old Victoria Margarita Brooks. We're told she was passed out in a grassy area near Canton Drive in North Collins Street. As an officer approached her, a loose dog charged at the officer, we're told he fired his gun several times at the dog but after the shots were fired, Brooks yelled that she was injured and she died at the hospital. Meanwhile, police say that the whole thing was captured on the officer's body cam. We'll expect to learn more from the police chief later today. Live in Arlington, Yona Gavino, CBS 11 News."
