Fox News: Judge Dismisses Democrats’ Suit Against Russia, Trump Campaign

A federal judge in Manhattan has dismissed a lawsuit filed by the Democratic National Committee against Russia, the Trump campaign, WikiLeaks and others

EXCERPT:

ROBERTS: “This is a lawsuit that was filed by the DNC back in April 2018. The filing named the Russian government, the Trump campaign, WikiLeaks, and other defendants, alleging a conspiracy to try and throw the 2016 presidential election through the release of e-mails that were hacked by Russia from the DNC. The U.S. District Judge John Koeltl, who was appointed by President Clinton in 1994, ruled that the suit was moot and without merit. He ruled that the government of Russia cannot be sued in U.S. courts. That it’s only the U.S. Government and the State Department that can sanction the Russian government. The Treasury could, as well. And that WikiLeaks and the Trump campaign had a First Amendment right to disseminate or encourage the dissemination of the hacked e-mails because they were not involved in that hacking. The judge writing, 'There is a significant legal distinction between stealing documents and disclosing documents that someone else had stolen previously.' On Twitter, the President claiming complete vindication, saying the judge in the DNC case was entirely divorced from the facts, quoting the judge there.”
