Obama: To Progress, ‘We’ve Just Got To Put Aside the Stale & Outmoded Debates’

‘We’ve just got to put aside the stale and outmoded debates, rejected failed policies, embrace policies we know work’

BARACK OBAMA: “Remember those words of FDR: ‘It falls upon us now, to say whether the chapters that are to come will tell a story of retreat or a story of continued advance.’ I believe in continued advance. The challenges that this generation of Americans has faced, they’re less dire than those that the Greatest Generation endured. But we’ve got the same will, we've got the same drive, we've the same innate optimism required to shape another American century. We know what works. We know what we have to do. We’ve just got to put aside the stale and outmoded debates, rejected failed policies, embrace the policies that we know work, embrace the promise of the future. And we’re not just then going to move forward, we’re going to write the next great chapter of our continued advance in this living book of democracy. All right. Thank you. Cleveland. God bless you.”(Applause)
