The woman who is third in line for the presidency had a hard time Tuesday recalling the name of the “college” that votes presidents into office.

The speaker of the House, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) stumbled while trying to throw shade on the Electoral College.

Pelosi, speaking to MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski, was asked whether President Trump is “fit to be president.”

“The American people elected him president, not by the popular vote, but by the, um … the college — the Electoral Collegem,” she said. “So I respect the office that he holds.”

Here’s an excerpt from the interview:

BRZEZINSKI: “Is he fit to be president?”

PELOSI: “The American people elected him president, not by the popular vote, but by the, um, the college, the Electoral College. So I respect the office that he holds.”

BRZEZINSKI: “Okay.”

PELOSI: “And I think I respect the office that the president holds more than he respects the office that he holds. And I do believe we must hold him accountable to a high ethical standard, which he has not met, to a level of integrity that he has not met and actually a respect for governance, science and other imperatives that we have. So this is — we have a moment. But the fact is that at the same time we have to try to find common ground to work with him, whether it’s on building the infrastructure of America in a green way, whether it’s lowering the cost of prescription drugs. I don’t think we can get him to be helpful in terms of cleaner government, but building infrastructure and lowering health care costs are maybe two places we can work with him.”
